My name is Tegan. My mother named me after a science fiction character, in a very popular British Television show; that pretty much sums up the craziness that is me. I pride myself on being unique, creative, willing to try anything once. I have traveled abroad to England, Ireland, Scotland, New Orleans, Panama, Cuba, Florida and different parts of Canada. I love adventure, I love writing, photographing, reading, movies, video games, mystery TV shows (British TV is my fav). I write poetry for the heck of it; I tell myself I am good, I've had a couple published, and I even attempted a year of poetry on another blog site (see tab under Poetry)...I got up to 277 and I am still trying to complete the task. I volunteered as a production editor, editor, writer, and more for the Cord Community Edition.
Being a mother has been the most amazing and scariest task I have taken on in my life. On August 23rd, 2012 at 5:00 am, my water broke and my husband and I were in a frenzy to get to the hospital, so we could greet our new little one. Not only was it two weeks before the due date, we had not packed and I had to call in to work in the middle of labour to let them know I would not be in for another year. After 6 hours of excruciating back labour, and 2 hours of pure pushing (waiting for an epidural that would never come) we finally met our little baby. My husband was able to announce the sex, a girl, and cut the cord; while I laughed hysterically from the adrenalin and endorphins rushing through my body. That day, at 4:32 pm we welcomed our first baby into the world. We were all home that same day by 8:00 pm, my husband driving as slowly as possible with our newest little addition. This website was created as an attempt to capture the last few months of maternity leave with my daughter, before I was thrown back into the real world. I wanted to make these months memorable, lasting, and to treasure every moment with my baby before I had to hand her over to the care of someone else. After once again being on maternity leave, my husband and I having been blessed with a little boy, I was able to quit my job and become a stay-at-home mother. My husband received a promotion that allowed this to happen; I owe him the world for this time I have with my girl and my boy. When my little guy is able to go to school, I will once again throw my hat into the working ring. |
