This Christmas, family was once again all together too generous. Everything that our little one got she was over the moon about. This year her grandfather and grandmother on her father's side decided to treat her to a couple homemade gifts that she can cherish forever. Her grandfather made her a rocking horse and her grandmother made her a mini me doll, adorable!
On my side of the family, the little one received books galore, which she immediately read through, and continuously grab off the shelves to read. My mother got her a beautiful cinderella nitelite, from Styll gallery in Elora. Her great aunt also got her an adorable name sign for her room, her favourite colour purple with a cute owl stenciled on it. Her room is going to be filled to the brim with pieces of both families throughout. My husband and I were also treated to wonderful gifts. My little one and I will be able to do lots of art together. My husband received the maps he wanted for framing, one of the Netherlands and one of Southern Ontario (both from around 1890). We are truly blessed with our families and the thoughtful gifts they give. All we really needed was to spend the holidays with them and enjoy their company.

It's my favourite time of year. Usually that means going a bit crazy with the DIY and the gift giving and the decorating. I cannot help it, I have the feels and I will explode if I do not release them onto the unsuspecting world. Below is what I put together for our Secret Santa with our friends. I could not resist, as our friends call themselves the penguin and panda (as a couple). Soooo cute! So I went about attempting my cartoonish version, turned out better than I expected and was well received (although I stepped out of the alcohol theme everyone else went for). Everything about this season makes me smile, from corny Hallmark movies, to childhood Christmas movie favourites, to the music and the merriment. I love seeing family, I love eating until I cannot eat anymore, and I LOVE seeing people's faces as they open what I have taken tedious hours planning to give them (wrapped to perfection). I am a CHRISTMAS nut, so it's lucky I married someone very similar, whose Dad is like Santa himself. I swear, he has a shop he works in all year, which plays Christmas music year round, and he hand-makes Christmas gifts for his grandchildren...adorable.
Two weekends ago I helped the Cord Community Edition by volunteering at a booth for the G33K Art Show. It was actually pretty cool to see a comic book/comic artist show in Kitchener. It had a good turn out and one guy dressed up as a rebellion on planet Hoth (in cold gear with a sign saying 'Have you seen my Tauntaun?'). Although, it was very sad that the people at the registration booth were too young to understand his costume...
Sorry for the long wait, almost a month. There will be an even longer entry tomorrow.
