Two weekends ago I helped the Cord Community Edition by volunteering at a booth for the G33K Art Show. It was actually pretty cool to see a comic book/comic artist show in Kitchener. It had a good turn out and one guy dressed up as a rebellion on planet Hoth (in cold gear with a sign saying 'Have you seen my Tauntaun?'). Although, it was very sad that the people at the registration booth were too young to understand his costume...
Sunday was our littlest nieces first birthday, and we just had to be there. It was so great to see all the kiddies playing with each other, and our little one always has a blast with her cousins. She loves being in the middle of things, and isn't too bad when it comes to meeting new adults. Our little niece was too cute. I wanted to cuddle her all day, especially when she showed us her shy face. As soon as she saw her one Uncle she threw her hands up over her eyes and started crying. What a little cutie pie!!! It was hard not to think it was adorable, even though she was scared.
Sunday was the family Christmas party for my husband's mother's side of the family. We always have fun there, although it is a bit hectic and full of rambunctious kids. This year our little girl was able to run around with the rest of them, although we had to be careful because there was a small stage and she didn't seem to grasp that she couldn't run full tilt off of it without falling. Her eldest cousin found it to be a fun game to catch her though, so I guess it worked out in the end. The kids interaction is something else, makes going to crowded events okay for me (I am pretty bad when it comes to big gatherings, have a little bit of a mean shy streak). But she was running around hugging her cousins and young uncle, and even smiled so big and ran at her young Uncle as soon as he arrived. Made my heart swell! She also threw herself into the middle of the group of kids running around, and went up to people she didn't even know to watch them and to give hugs (she gave a hug and kiss to one of Eric's older cousins that she hardly knows, so cute).
The food was amazing, I ate tons and was able to share lots off my plate with the little one. So she was definitely filled up by the time Santa showed up. With Santa she was AMAZING, no tears, just staring at him and smiling. She got her gift and pulled the paper off and wanted every car out until the purple was finally free. Then she was interested in a plastic water bottle and her littlest cousin went after the cards (too cute, haha). We got her cars as we are told at Daycare she loves them, and at home she goes 'vroom, vroom' whenever she is holding one, or 'Uh Oh' whenever they crash into each other.
