The kids had a blast, walking around, looking at the decor put up for photos. Our house garnered a lot of interest and attention; everyone was impressed with our daughter's touches, and the froot loops we put up to look like Christmas lights. There was a craft table that our little girl took full advantage of, making a lovely gingerbread person and colouring a gingerbread house. We also enjoyed the bags of popcorn, cookies, veggies, fruits, and coffee on hand. We loved it so much we hope to attend again next year, if they are hosting.
I love this time of year so much. It is the perfect time to go out to craft sales, bake sales, and just feel the warmth of the holiday spirit in everyone you see. Often times I am greeted with a hearty hello, a smile, or even a Merry Christmas. It's my favourite time of year, as it seems to bring out the joy in people (a kind of nostalgia for childhood and that sense of wonder and hope we regain once a year in adulthood). It makes us more charitable, more kind to mankind, more human. It really is the warmest time of the year, even if the weather outside is at its coldest.
