When Mumford and Sons came on we were blown away. The sound carried, was authentic, they played old and new. We heard the twang of the banjo, the deep rhythm of the bass, and the distinctive vocals of Marcus Mumford. They played all the songs we wanted to hear, except for Hopeless Wanderer, surprisingly. My favourite even made it in, Thistle & Weeds (one of their more poetic songs).
It was fun, and my husband and I got to feel the littlest member of our family rocking out in my belly (kicking to all the new stuff, with the deep and fast harmonics). This was a once in a lifetime experience, and one we will not soon forget. It was a great way to spend a night together. Only two issues bothered me: the non-stop smoking of patrons within the park (which is illegal and was only being somewhat enforced). But with 30,000 people how can you stop it all? For me this was a problem, as I have a slight allergy and because I am pregnant I get nauseous very easily and headaches attack quite quickly. So throughout the night we had to change locations constantly to avoid the smokers, who seemed to lurk everywhere. I did not escape my nose clogging up, or my throat becoming dry, or the urge to vomit quite a few times. Luckily the music and company made up for it. The other was the congestion trying to leave the venue. On the way in it seemed to be well organized, on the way out this was not the case. Quite a few people tried to beat the line by taking side streets, which only caused more confusion. I think if there was more direction it would have been much smoother, having to take the route out through the city, since they had us roped into that section. But overall, fantastic experience. Recommend seeing them live, they really put on a feet stomping, toe tapping, hand slapping show.
