All of our other favourites return and play major roles in defending Cinder and Earth from being ravaged. All their eccentricities come out to play. I especially love the continued romantic story between Scarlet and Wolf. So many moments where you gasp and worry, but continue to believe in the power of Alpha/pack dynamic. I always have heart eyes for these two, from such opposite worlds but loving unconditionally. Cinder is as enchanting as ever, bringing an era of change to Luna. Helping Earth to become less terrified of the Lunar people, endorsing Garan's device to protect them from the mind control powers of the Lunar citizens. Winter has had the chip installed, but she still has her fantastically odd quirks, so it has not changed her personality one bit. Cress is shy and reserved, but open and honest with her friends, and the grounding force for Captain Thorne. The main theme behind the graphic novel was the idea of what makes someone or something human. How is humanity categorized? If you are programmed, does that mean you are not human, that your feelings are simply installed reactions? Or can you be more than that? If you are altered, and you now have new urges, does that mean you are no longer human? Because you must resist baser instincts in order to keep your humanity in tact? Is humanity based on being human, are androids incapable of real love or real emotions? Are wolves incapable of escaping their baser natures, resisting their hunger? It was very interesting, starts you contemplating and questioning existence and emotions and the power of love. These books are always about the power of love and loyalty. The illustrations are once again stunning. At first, I kind of was shocked seeing my favourite team as comic characters, and some of them looked differently then how I would have imagined them. However, through the two graphic novels I fell in love with the style, with the muted blue (seeing through the lens of an android). Really immersed me in the world of the Rampion crew, of Cinder and her loyal friends, of Iko and her kickass humanity and style. Best quote, from Kinney: "I'm saying that I don't believe love and friendship can be programmed. Maybe you were wired to like certain things or act a certain way, but love...it can't be manufactured or implanted. It has to grow naturally."
