Whenever you begin a new relationship, there is always a fear of losing some people who are close to you, due to your being less available. I have experienced this, as many probably have. In this graphic novel, that fear is made manifest by a magic compass, which make Molly's friends disappear and become lost. Along the way, Molly learns to realize her own worth, the important place she holds within the hearts of her friends, and the happiness she would feel if she lets go of her own fears and embraces her love for Mal. An honest look at friendship and romance. Understanding that true friendship withstands tests of change, distance and growth. I really loved the art, colouring and message. This graphic novel has convinced me to give the Lumberjanes series another shot, because this turn sure did show the amazingness these girls have to offer. There was another great message as well; which is, there isn't always a villain, sometimes people are just confused, sad and lonely. A bit of kindness and friendship can go a long way.
