Colours are still vibrant, with pinks and oranges often being ominous. The future is full of technology, the hard to understand slang language, bright lights, all night libraries, a shoot-to-kill police force, and illegal traders. All of it was interesting and added to questions readers are continuously being bombarded with. Such as: is this future good or bad? If the girls make it back home will they allow evil to persist? I enjoyed the new character, the illegal contraband seller, with her long cloak and video screen under clothing. I hope there will be more of her in future installments. She was great for helping the girls understand the tech and where they are. She was strong, competent, and full of important information. She appeared like a guardian angel just when they need help the most. Just when you think the girls may be safe, a curve ball is thrown at them. Urging readers to grab the next installment as soon as they finish. The character arcs are also expanding, with characters growing to understand themselves and where they fit in this world. They are adapting, learning, but still naive and trusting when it comes to themselves. I like the KJ and Mac story line and Mac's disgust, but also her inevitable acceptance. Mac seems the strongest, but in truth she has a weakness for giving up, the others trying to push her into action. Erin continues to be the leader, even when she makes the wrong decisions. Tiffany is quickly becoming a favourite, with her future self only adding to her intrigue. I love that they share excitement, are both willing to do anything to protect their friends, and both drip with pop culture and sarcasm. I am excited for Volume 6.
