This book goes behind-the-scenes to reveal how the show came to be and what viewers can expect in the future season. The book uses the pop of colour you would expect from the 80s and adds in nods to that era throughout (Beta anyone?). The book was not overly long and the photographs and information were presented in a very pleasing way. When finally introduced to the 'Upside Down', the reader must flip the book on its head and experience reading backwards. The effect is unsettling and perfect for the content. There are quotes throughout from the directors, producers, actors, sound engineers, lighting experts, set designers, concept artists and more. This book explores every aspect of the show, answering all the viewers in-depth questions about every decision made (from the Demogorgon to the make of walkie talkie the boys use to communicate). The book explores just how detailed and accurate the team behind Stranger Things dedicated themselves to being. I would have enjoyed a little more in terms of character interaction and family dynamics, but loved the style of each character sheet. Loved experiencing the character from the point-of-view of the writers and the actors who portray them. It was fun to learn that characters were not set in stone and were often shaped around the actor that took on the role, which added dimension and emotion to an otherwise stereotypical role. A truly intimate look at the making of a hit show, from inception to plans for the future. From colour scheme to set pieces and crafting items to look aged. The love put in to the smallest of details helped to boost this show into instant success. A fantastic and fascinating read about one of my favourite shows! This is my very last review of 2018, and what a read! Thank you for following my blog, for all your interactions, for reading my thoughts on books and for being awesome.
