This graphic novel is very much about the power of stories and the power of women, and how both of them can be changed at the hands of men. Women are either crazy or emotional, at least that is inferred by how little the Norns warnings are listened to, and how easily everyone is persuaded that Cassandra is nuts. There is also a very pointed, and very important, message regarding a woman's right to her own body (important to the climate of what is happening right now). I continue to love the transition from bright, vibrant colours, to dark, muted tones. Each represents a different character, a difficult situation, or a scene that reveals another kernel of truth/knowledge. Also, there are so many fantastically staged scenes throughout. Pages that are filled with black panels, which weigh on the reader, pushing them through darkness. Pages that represent the progress of the different era of the Gods, reaction scenes that are stark, beautiful, tragic. I was blown away by some of the art and how fluid it was, how well positioned the words were. This series is fantastic and I have no idea how it will end. There is only a couple more volumes to go, I believe, and I can only imagine how mind blowing it will be, and I will be sad and excited to find out all of the truths that are waiting at the end of this long, dark road.
