Naiya has found out she might be the 'Chosen' savior of Terminus and her world. But with that knowledge comes great responsibility, strength, determination and the will to be more than who she is. Naiya must face her demons, conquer her fears, trust in others and not be afraid of losing those she loved. Her mission is to find Terminus, open the door and try to save it, from the evils of the world an the dark figure that has taken over Terminus. This story is full of twists and turns, betrayals and secrets. The world building is incredible, with a rich historical back story. I was enthralled the entire time I was reading, pulled from page to page, fearful for Naiya, worried for her future and her loved ones. Each character is memorable, fully developed, with motivations and intentions (some known and some unknown). Each character has a pivotal role to play and I love how magic is itself a character that weaves itself between the citizens of this broken world, around Naiya, caressing, filling, trying to mold and build and fix. But the magic is failing, bleeding out, drying up, along with Terminus. I am a big fan of the rune lore and how Naiya and Pip are learning to use their powers, their magic, against the darkness, against the Home Guard and Dr. Black. I am excited to see where the next book takes us, how can Naiya save her people, especially knowing what she does now? Brilliant! I was given a copy of Unwilling Key, by the author, in exchange for an honest review.
