Mindy's script for the Latin teacher falling in love with an older History teacher reminded me so much of The Mindy Project (and really rekindled my love for her show). But really, it should be made into a romcom, starring Mindy of course. It was just too sweet, and I loved that the format was emails being delivered through the schools internal email system. The subtle, and not so subtle, messages in this book were empowering. I think her stance on confidence was so interesting; confidence as a form of entitlement (a person needs to feel entitled to their own confidence). Like an "of course I'm confident, why shouldn't I be?" It helped me understand my own lack of confidence. I would never be confident, just because I have every right to be, but maybe I should try that out. I also found her Harvard Law speech endearing, hilarious and inspiring. Not many people will say they like lawyers, but her rousing speech about how lawyers shape our society through policy, clauses, and terms and conditions made me really appreciate the roles lawyers play. It really highlighted Mindy's intelligence and vivacity. Also, if you're looking for a little bit on her adorable friendship with B. J. Novak, there is a chapter in this book just for you. It is such a wonderful male/female friendship that does not revolve around sex or one day being together. They just are what they are to each other, soup snakes. I highly recommend Mindy Kaling's biographies. She is so funny, her ideas and opinions so enjoyable to hear. Also, she has guest moments, where friends will either say a part of the book or have a chapter in her book. Makes the audio-book more intriguing to hear different perspectives on Mindy, or on women in comedy.
