Also, staff at Gilt are always friendly, accommodating and wonderful. Last year they hustled to make sure we made it to the show on time, this year they were non-stop on top of making sure our meal was great. After dinner, we decided to stop by Kitchener City Hall, for a special projection mapping display the City had put on. It was created by Christie Digital: a Holiday Greeting Card to the Community. It was shorter than we were expecting, but was actually perfect timing for us. We enjoyed it, although it seemed bit skippy on one section of the building. Really made City Hall a holiday destination, with skaters enjoying the rink outside while the show went on. But when the display was over, we headed over to Centre in the Square. Early enough to sit and enjoy each others company for a bit.
It was wonderful, once again, but I must say I did prefer the 2015 concert, if only for the rendition of "Stars" by the Grand Philharmonic Choir, when they used lighting to illuminate themselves as they sang, as though they themselves were the stars shining in the night sky.
I am already anticipating next year's show. This surely has become my all time favourite birthday tradition, other than spending my actual day being spoiled by my husband and kids (complete with cuddles in bed). PS. Husband helped with lighting at the restaurant, since last year's photographs were atrocious. Hope they look a little better. Also, here's a link to last year's blog, in case you want a refresher of our first outing.
