Well, the cupcakes I made for National Cupcake Day were a hit. With some help from my good friend Living, Loving, and Laughing in the Loo, who made some of the designs on the cupcakes (see fly on dog poo), we were able to create a fun Sunday afternoon. My favourite were the mama and baby pandas and owls (I did the pandas and my friend did the owls). Too cute! Everyone at work seemed to enjoy the work put into them, and enjoyed eating them.
As well, I was able to raise my goal of $200 to go towards the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society. And, maybe when we move in to our new house we can adopt one of the older cats from there or an older dog. Cupcakes were marble (so I got both the chocolate and vanilla crowd). Some had chocolate frosting, some fluffy vanilla, some both. We used both blue and green sugar icing, to make the effect of grass or a nest, or poo. All of the characters were made with marshmallow fondant. All in all, it was a success and I had lots of fun doing it. Next year I will have to up my game somehow.

Sorry I haven't written in a while...been very busy at work and at home. Exciting things on the horizon.
We bought a house!!!! For the first time in our lives my husband and I are home owners. I still cannot believe it, or how quickly the process goes once your offer is accepted. It is both terrifying to be spending so much money, and exhilarating to know that in two months we will have so much room we won't know what to do with ourselves. I am looking most forward to: our babe having a painted room, all the room she could ever want, a backyard, decorating, and Christmas in our new home come next year. My decorating will put Santa to shame...muahahaha. I am thrilled, beyond belief, over the moon. Next week we finalize our mortgage and home inspect, then it's ours come April. Share more soon. Also, the Olympics are happening right now I cannot be any prouder of our Canadian athletes. They are the embodiment of the games for sure! Illuminate
Street lights flash Flare out to grab the shadows Where human contact hides Afraid to be found And torn asunder in this Unforgiving city The moon looks down On a pair of silent smiles Trying to find a meaning In a world that has shown them Only pain and hurt in this Unabashed city Florescent light cascades Off towering walls and through Clear sky windows As though the world could change From night to day with a switch in this Forsaken city Neon signs capture moments As they fizzle and electrify The night, like stars across Black concrete streets The glare growing as we fall towards this Unbearable city Sunshine slowly rises but It's gloomy and faded Like the faces and lives that turn That move and grow and change Never really shining the brightest they can in this Soulless city Tegan Thuss |
