After two weeks of utter amazingness, I have returned to work. Spending those couple weeks with the little one half the time all to myself was just the vacation I needed. Sure at times, when it was below freezing, we would both be stuck inside yearning to be outside, stir crazy as ever. But in the end we would make a game of it. From my little one learning to point out family and friends in a little book we made for her, to her pointing out items in books that she is registering the meaning of. I was beyond words amazed at what she is learning and has already learned. I cannot believe she is aging right before my eyes. One day she wouldn't know something, then the next she would be a pro at it. She was kissing and canoodling our cat like crazy, and my heart was swelling with knowing how much she loves this little creature in our lives. She strolled about with her new backpack on, and gave kisses and arranged the bags at the door to let us know she was ready to go some days. I already miss being with her. But when we returned her to Daycare there was no crying, just a run into our workers arms and snuggles. What was even sadder, she didn't want to leave, she didn't want to come home. Sometimes I wonder, 'Aren't Daddy and Mommy cool, too?' Haha, but once she is home she is happy again, and playing, and cuddling and raining kisses on us.
Yesterday was intense weather, snow like you wouldn't believe, and today it is freezing. -40 with windchill. The privileges of living in cold Canada. I won't complain though, I love it here, and I love the winter (no matter how cold it gets, how icy the sidewalks, you can't put me down). Just looking out onto an expanse of white powder outside the window puts a smile on my face. The little one also loves it; loves walking in the snow, sledding at Daycare, and generally being outside. Yay! New Years Eve we spent going to see the Wonders of Winter at Waterloo Park. They had their 20th Anniversary, and the little one loved it. We missed out on the horse drawn trolley, as they were right packed when we got there and it was too cold to wait 15 minutes for the next one. However, the babe was able to see the horses and boy did she LOVE them. She giggled and waved and screamed in glee. Then we came back home to relax with a spaghetti dinner with some champagne, watched The World's End and an turned in early. That's right, our babe went to bed at 8:30 and the hubby and I were in bed at 11:30. It was the perfect way to kick off a new year. Sigh!
