Just before dusk the campfire was started, and the kids began throwing in their old school work. We all watched as they jumped and hollered and hooted. To them this was the end of hard work and the beginning of summer. It's been so long, it was nice to remember what it felt like to put things off for a couple months. To have freedom right in front of your eyes. Plans to hang out with friends, play in the park during the day, play games on your street like Power Rangers, the Olympics or Captain Planet. It's amazing how much you realize you miss it, that carefree kid feeling, even while loving where you are at now.
