This past weekend we celebrated a new stage in my mom's life. She both turned 60 and she retired on Friday, today being her first official day of not working for the rest of her life. I am so amazed at all she has accomplished, how many lives she has touched, and how she has been able to save and use money sense to get to this stage of early retirement. So we wanted to celebrate, and really do it up in style. I worked with the rest of my family to find a great place to host (my sister's new house), figure out the catering (sandwiches, sushi, pizza, salads, etc.), and get her a present to represent where her life is headed (travel, fun, tourism and time with family).
The present that my sister got together included tons of travel items, for her trips around Toronto. She has lived there most of her life and now she wants to experience it from a visitors perspective. Checking out neighbourdhoods, trails, cool attractions, etc. So there was a water bottle in there, travel size items, a trip to Stratford with my Aunt, a VIA gift card, ESSO gift card, book on trails off public transit in Toronto, and a City Pass. She is going to have lots of fun!
I am so proud of my mom and cannot wait to spend more time with her, hear about all of the adventures she gets up to, and know that she has left her stress filled job behind to spend more time on herself and what she loves!
