Last week our little family took a vacation with some good friends of ours. We rented a cottage on Sturgeon Lake, near Fenelon Falls. The cottage was smaller than we thought it was from the photos, but it was a wonderful escape full of adventure, laughs and general happiness. My husband found the cottage and did all of the leg work, which was a nice change, as I am usually the instigator. But with a little one on the way, my energy levels are very low. Instead of going south to a tropical island, a cottage was the perfect destination to go with our good friends, especially ones travelling from a far distance.
Below you will see some famous Kawartha Dairy ice cream, purchased in Fenelon Falls from Slices N' Scoops. The babe had cotton candy, my husband had moose tracks, and I had Bordeaux cherry. Yum!
Also, my husband enjoyed some scotch (12 year old Glenlivet that my mom had gotten for a previous anniversary, a nod of our trip to Scotland), which he managed to polish off with our friends, while enjoying the dock and the hot tub. While I made a virgin sangria recipe, lots of fruits with some sparkling grape juice and a sour watermelon candy on the rim. It was delicious, and probably my drink of summer. Both were great for sitting and relaxing on the dock, when we wanted a little bit of time to ourselves after the babe went to sleep (quite romantic).
