Snowflake was very mischievous, causing all kinds of trouble in the household. However, he/she (sex changed halfway through the visit) was thoughtful in leaving a note of goodbye. Our little girl really enjoyed looking for the elf, and a couple times our little boy was lucky enough to spot him/her first. We are excited to try this all again next year, minus a book written by me. I think next year both kids will be able to interact more with the elf and what he/she represents. I suppose I should be making notes for next year's 24 different positions/pranks.
I've also decided on a sticker advent calendar, with a sticker sheet for my girl and my boy each day. Much easier, and I can collect cute stickers throughout the year. PS. My sister wanted me to do a video for Day 2, with the elf swinging to Sia's "Chandelier". Would have done if she suggested before I took it all down. Maybe next year.
