Made some sugar cookies, see previous post on the work behind them. For the kiddies loot bags did an in-filled cookie with hardened icing initial and number on top. Because it was so sugary, I only gave one to each kid (packaged with previous post design of birds and Thank You For Coming message). In plastic baggies, with the designed image stapled to the top, was so fun and looked like they came from a store. For the adults, I did a simple outline in pale yellow and an initial in purple and light pink. The recipe made way more than 30 - 35, so we had some left over, but it was good. Some of the initials got a little smudgey, due to consistency of the icing, but still turned out alright.
For her cake, my husband and I opted on making a number 3, very basic with light purple icing. He helped out a lot with this, making the cake and pouring the batter in the angel food cake mold. Making sure to take the cake out, wait for it to cool and to cut out the shapes to make the three. Turned out amazing! I iced the bad boy, as my part in making it. Our little one helped out with choosing the blackboard name tags for the loot bags, a specific one for each child coming. She also helped to make the mini monster faces, for the Play-Doh we gave (choosing each set of eyes and if they should be goofy or scary), along with choosing the Critters book for each kid, and a comic for her young Uncle who came. As part of the decor, we added a painting I had done as one of the table setting for our wedding (in the theme colours, purple and yellow with birds). I made a banner for outside with dollar store burlap hearts, which I string with purple embroidery thread. I then painted white letters on, spelling her name, and placed above each letter a purple, with white polka dot, bow found at the dollar store. We also handed out mason jars for drinking, with a couple sparkling lemonades/Italian sodas and cold water in a glass container. All class! We offered up burgers, hot dogs, and a couple great salads (thanks to my husband's mom for her amazing taco salad). All the food was gobbled up, which is a good sign. The finishing touch, an ice cream bar with mini waffle bowls. We asked the little one to choose two ice cream flavours (birthday sprinkles Oreo and chocolate caramel), four toppings, and we got a few kinds of syrup. This was a huge hit, no bowls left by the end. My fav toppings were the M&Ms, but we also had Skor bits, mini white chocolate chips, and crushed peanuts. Yum! All-in-all, was a very successful party. We had tons of fun hanging out with our family and friends, and by far the one who had the most fun was the guest of honour (our boo bear). Even if she was being shy at first, she couldn't help but play the balloon toss game, or show off her sandbox, playroom, and toys to her little friends. She also made the rounds with the adults, and thanked each individual for the gifts they gave (which were so unnecessary, but wonderful).
