Since returning to work, weekends have now become a new experience for me. I now see them as whole days spent with my babe and my husband, so I want to make the most of them; while relaxing and enjoying them. Our most recent plan has been to have one busy weekend day and one sit around and be lazy weekend day (where the little one can walk around the place and just play with her toys and us, since she is walking EVERYWHERE now). They grow so quick. This past weekend Saturday was our lounge day. We did our shopping for the week, our laundry, and just generally hung out at home as a family. It was very nice. The only other outing we had was to the park, so the little one could attempt walking on uneven ground, on the grass. She had fun, even didn't mind so much sitting on it and pulling it from the ground. Yay, progress! Sunday was our busier day, but it was also very nice. While the babe and her daddy went to church, I went for a jog with a good friend. She is also in training for Colour Me Rad, as we are all running it together. So it is nice to have someone to run with, who is at the same stage of never really having run too much before. We motivate each other so much! I looked a bit ridiculous, as I had borrowed my husband's bright orange running room jacket (which he got from a race and never wears). So I looked like a big orange blob, as I was swimming in the jacket, but it was too cold otherwise. After our run, we decided to walk to the Public Square to check out deals at Valumart and grab a drink from Shoppers. Once we were done we went out on the steps and checked out the Book Cycle box. Waterloo Public Square has a box outside where you can leave a book and take a book; it's a fantastic idea for book sharing! I love that they are promoting giving away books, even ones you might love, to try to instill reading in others or helping someone else find that book you love so they can cherish it as well. I left a book that I didn't much like in there, and found one of my favourite books from a children's series in there. I was stunned it was there, and I grabbed it excitedly for when Nora is older and I can read it to her. Also, as seen from the photos above...when we arrived the box was in shambles...but by the time we left my anal Chapters shelving took over and I cleaned the box so everyone who went there after was able to properly see every book available to trade. Although, I am sure by the end of the day it will once again look like the first photo, I could not leave it in such a state. That's right, I am a little nuts, haha.
Also, this past weekend the first newspaper I helped to edit and produce hit the newsstands. Check out my section below. I am super proud and excited to have done this. I cannot wait for the next issue to roll out. I also was able to write an article about Doors Open Waterloo Region and the Mike & Ophelia Lazaridis Quantum-Nano Centre, which became a feature in the News section. Check for the Cord Community Edition (September Issue) on stands now!
