Sorry again for the delay in posting, but this past week has been a rough one. Our little one caught the flu and was sick at night for a few days. Fine during the day, her chipper self just with less appetite, but just could not keep anything down during the night. Was horrible, as we couldn't do anything for her and we were both on high alert during the night whenever she made a noise. The first night she was sick we spent most of the night cleaning sheets and her, while trying to calm her down. We could tell she wasn't understanding what had happened and was happening when, the next day, I was making her bed and she innocently said "I was having a big burp last night and got everything dirty". It was both adorable and sad, because you cannot really correct it, since she has never had the experience of throwing up like that before. We have been lucky up to this point, and even if I did need to take three of my six sick days off work, it was worth it to know she was okay and to cuddle with her and make her feel better. The last two nights she has been sleeping well, just tossing and turning a bit, and her appetite seems to be coming back. Pedialite freezies and yogurt saved us the last few days. In the mean time, been cold as all get out, but the beauty of winter prevails.
Well, back to work after my two week Christmas break/hiatus; playing with the little one, driving for the first time solo with her, visits with family and friends, and an all around amazing time. It is a shame I have to go back, but reality calls and I like to be able to afford pretty and fun things.
December 21st was a great day for our family. We decided to have a day exploding with excitement. Which, of course, began with a Waterloo Siskins game (which they won 6-3). It was so fun watching our little one get into the atmosphere of the arena. We ate popcorn and drank a slushie, we walked around the arena a few times, we checked out what was going on, and we people watched. She wanted to go down to the glass and watch the action up close. This girl only knows one sport and that is hockey, every other sport she sees is "hockey" according to her. It's adorable! We are planning to visit a few more games throughout the season, and maybe a Golden Hawks game here or there. |
