This was a wonderful story about the power of love (both romantic and familial). Danny is so stressed out due to work and feels continuously defeated. When he meets up with Tobin, after so many years, he begins to ease back on work and to reevaluate himself and what he truly wants out of his life. Tobin and Danny both feel strongly about independence and respect. Tobin has distanced himself from his family, because he does not want to be the baby and to rely on them. He feels in order to be grown up he must do everything on his own. It is too easy to fall back on the wealth his parent's have. Danny is so grateful for all of the help from the Lok's, but feels a responsibility to pay them back. Both Danny and Tobin need to realize that to truly grow up one must learn to accept help and love from family and friends. Sometimes the hardest lesson to learn is to let go of your ego and accept a helping hand. The novel had plenty of perfectly steamy scenes between Danny and Tobin. I loved how open they were with each other from the beginning, communicating their desires and feelings for one another. Danny was not honest about his work, but that was more to do with his feeling of being a failure and his knowing some of what he was doing was shady and he hated himself for it. Danny and Tobin agree to keep their relationship a secret from Wei, but for different reasons. Danny feels he is betraying his friendship with Wei and the bond between him and Tobin's parents; whereas, Tobin wants to be independent and keep his relationship with Danny for himself, separate from the family that always babies him. There is a lot of hardship and growth that Danny and Tobin must endure in order to realize their love for one another. Danny must put aside his need to excel and prove himself (always worried that growing up poor meant he was worthless). His need to do well stems from his belief that all of the help from the Lok's deserves a return on investment. Tobin needs to show the world that he is older, wiser, smart enough to advance a failing company. But what they really need is the support and love of each other. A really fantastic read about family, loyalty, and love. Thank you to @HarlequinPublicityTeam for sending me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
