The book was long, with some parts seeming unimportant. However, all of it was important in terms of showing how politics work, how easily people are swayed by hate, how much the world seems to be crumbling around us. This book is a light, a dream of what could have been, should have been. This book is about love, about others understanding who they are and what they believe in. There are parts when you will be angry, be exhausted by how real all of the hate can be, but there are parts that will make you smile, laugh, cry and shout out in triumph. Alex and Henry are wonderful characters, with lots of depth and courage. You grow with them, share in their heartache. Alex is a talker, but under his polished veneer is an anxious mind trying to make a difference in the world. Henry hides himself behind a stiff, formal English charm, he only really opens up to those he trusts and loves. The two fit so perfectly, and their love combusts onto the world stage (for better or worse). This book is all about hope, about the world changing for the better, about people opening their eyes and hearts to a group of marginalized people who need to know the world supports them and their rights. Read this book, let is sink in, be hopeful with Alex and Henry. History, huh?
