I love Molly so much, she is such a breath of fresh air for a detective series. Straight forward, observant, kind, and determined to care for her hotel and those she loves within it. She is spunky, authentic, and believable. I found the murder very ingenious, although how it was solved was a little unbelievable (even if it was interesting and used Molly's best instincts and eccentricities). I was also a little underwhelmed by the overall conclusion to the mystery. Although, I did guess one major plot point and was happy that had a positive outcome. The best parts were the peaks into Molly's past and her grandmother having to deal with a school that has no care in place for autism, and a workplace with a mean wife and a husband who at first appears to Molly as an ogre. Slowly, Molly opens herself up to Mr. Grimthorpe, interested in his work and his lifestyle. Throughout her time shining the silver, she comes to see the reality of the cruel estate and the torture those who work there go through. A good book, but not a great one. I like Molly's character growth and her newfound ability to speak up for herself and others. But, the overall mystery felt a little lackluster and again unbelievable. I did like that Detective Stark acknowledged Molly's cunning and observational skills, and apologized for always undermining her and suspecting her. I will read more, as I enjoy the characters and the dynamics between them. Also, these books do give me a good chuckle every now and again.
