Darcy and Tom's relationship was interestingly written, I actually really enjoyed their weird banter. They are both so honest with each other, but neither really listens or believes it, so they end up in limbo or playing "chicken" with each other's hearts. I love Darcy's take on Tom being the wolf, Valeska, with her and her brother, Jamie. His protectiveness, jealousy, animal lust. She also feels this way for Tom, which amounts to a LOT of passion. I also enjoyed reading about a character with a heart condition. That Darcy must be careful while having sex, that she needs to consider her heart when she does anything. But also how her ailment has affected her relationships, her confidence, her ability to accept love, her fear of being a burden. It was very realistic and heart breaking, her feeling she always held her family back, but also her pain of being the child left behind on trips. So, while some of the way the book was written was jarring and rough, there was a lot that was very touching and thoughtful. The couple were wonderful, once they actually communicated and listened to one another.
