This graphic novel is based on a hit podcast, and is soon to be a motion picture. It is hilarious! Honestly, the references to Earth songs, shows, books, etc. The humans turned monstrous, Book Club, The Beard, zombie wife and husband hunters. Oh my gosh, just all of it was so well thought out and hysterical. Morgan just wants a dull life, no more hunting and more time to watch reruns of her favourite Earth show, Fraser. She is smart, but also compulsive. She trusts her friends and would sacrifice anything to help them. She has no time for the posturing of men, and is thoroughly annoyed with her ex Van (a free spirited hunter with a higher star rating). The illustrations are phenomenal. I love the drawing style, detailed but light and fun. The colour choices heighten this horror/comedy, with bright colours constantly berating. Memories are duller, brown or blue, but otherwise the panels are vibrant and somehow both alien and familiar at once. Also, brilliant to add in different elements, life phone screens, app information, the intro of the characters at the end on the app Humpr (a sex app rip off of Huntr). Honestly, if you enjoy horror/comedy, science fiction, and nostalgia than this graphic novel is a must read. You will laugh, wince, roll your eyes, and connect with this rag-tag group of reluctant heroes. Also, who knew fanny packs were such effective weapons?
