Josh is her opposite. Quiet, calm, unassuming. He exudes cool and class. He is sweet, charming, and falls easily into friendship with Hazel. The two of them compliment each other and can communicate openly and easily. Josh allows Hazel to invade his life, embracing the inevitability of becoming best friends. He is able to show her that she can be loved, no matter her eccentricities. The friendship and love between Hazel and Josh is powerful; so, while I laughed through all the double dating hi-jinks, I also felt the lows of Hazel's past relationship and Josh's lying girlfriend. Their chemistry is undeniable and from the first double date it's pretty obvious how this will go and how oblivious they are to their true feelings. The only thing that bothered me was the ending, as it felt a bit rushed. There could have been a bit more added to soften the sort of unbelievable bits and add to the character and relationship growth. Overall though, a quirky, funny read full of heart and determination.
