What a fantastic book. The concept is golden and executed perfectly. The rivalry between Shay and Dominic is so palpable, but the chemistry is even more apparent. Their banter is top notch and had me craving more. I loved the transcripts for their shows thrown in, pieces that impacted the story. I loved the mention of podcasts, their shared love of Buffy, and other nods to radio. Shay's grief for her father is believable, raw even years later. Her justification for putting her integrity on the line is due to her desire to finally be on the radio (a dream that came about from years of pretending to do radio with her dad). I also adored her relationship with her mother, and her mother's new boyfriend. They had a healthy relationship, grieving openly, but also being open to new love and to sharing their pain and healing. Dominic was at first uptight, but when you get to know him he is an adorable dork. He sacrifices his morals to help the station, to host with Shay. He is kind, considerate, smitten and the best flirt. He is such a great character who encourages others, sticks up for Shay and tries hard to be a good newsman. Together these two are fire! From the first page to the last, I had a hard time putting this book down. I stayed up too late one night to finish the novel. I loved the inside look at misogyny in radio and how it adversely affects Shay's career (how differently she is treated compared to Dominic, both in terms of her station and of the reaction of their followers). Also, Shay's constant need to succeed, and the feeling she must work continuously to keep her place within the radio community, stops her from having a personal life. I loved, loved, loved this book! I think everyone should read it, especially if you love a good rivals/enemies to lovers romance.
