Anniversary Weekend Part 1, Harbourfront Saturday

30/5/2017

My husband and I celebrated 7 years of marriage on Monday, so we decided to use the weekend as an anniversary getaway. We dropped the kids off with my mom and headed to downtown Toronto for an overnight adventure.

Saturday we spent the day walking around and enjoying each other's company. We started by checking in to a quaint little AirBnB on Carlton Street, close to Maple Leaf Gardens. Our first mission being to grab booze for the evening, we headed into the LCBO there and purchased the Brickworks Cider box. We also picked up some delicious kettle chips from Loblaws. We have this tradition, which started on a trip to New Orleans (when we enjoyed voodoo kettle chips and a bottle of Rose wine), where we pick up chips and wine, or in this case cider, and enjoy them the evening of our getaway.

Our second mission was to walk down to the lakefront and enjoy a drink and food on a patio, with our books for company. Was a bit of a hike, half an hour, and we hadn't eaten much; so, we made a pit stop for some McDonald's mcvalue burgers and small fries to share beforehand. We also stopped for some Maple Leafs kids gear on the way.

Mad Hatter at it Again, The Tea Party

23/5/2017

For our Mother's Day treat, while in Ottawa, my mom, aunt, sister and I (with our daughter's) went to The Tea Party Cafe. $20/person for the Mother's Day Afternoon Tea (a fantastic rate for tea). We ordered for 5, expecting the girls to share a portion between them. Luckily, my niece didn't each too much, which made up for my little one eating a portion, maybe more, herself.

We had been to this tea house a couple year's before, another Mother's Day weekend in Ottawa. That visit was wonderful, so we were excited to once again visit. It was good again, food delicious, but not quite the same. The owner wasn't there chatting with us, her daughter hiding near the washrooms. We ordered a shared pot of tea, two single pots, and two hot chocolates for the girls (we were entitled to five pots). The girls received their hot chocolates in little glasses, and were told they would receive a refill (unfortunately, that did not happen).

Mother's Day Ottawa Adventure

16/5/2017

I had a bit of an adventure this past Mother's Day weekend. Instead of staying home, my daughter and I went with my mom, and aunt, to my sister's place in Ottawa. It was very hard leaving my little boy for two nights, but nice to have mommy and daughter time.

Friday morning, before we left for Ottawa, my daughter and I went for a walk to an old haunt of mine, Java Joe's. It was a beautiful morning, warm and sunny. We held hands the whole way there, chatted about life, and then grabbed a snack. We sat near the front windows and enjoyed each other's company. We then walked back to my mom's, arm in arm. This was a lovely beginning to my weekend, it made my whole Friday.

The drive was long, but we broke it up a couple times. Once, to visit my little sister who just had a baby (which was a great stop). Then another in the town of Tweed, where we stopped for dinner at Vito's (a pizza/diner).

The Art of Socks, by Ozone

3/5/2017

A bit of a change to my posts, but I received these Ozone socks in the mail and I wanted to gush a bit. These are the 4 Seasons: Autumn pair, and they are beautiful!!!!

Ozone is a sock company specializing in fun, colourful, artistic socks; their slogan is "The Art of Socks". You can tell these are quality socks. I wore them all day yesterday and they are light, breathable and comfortable. Fantastic!

If you live in the states, they also host a Sock of the Month club; unfortunately, not offered in Canada at the moment. But, how amazing would it be to receive a cute pair of socks every month?

The price point of these socks isn't too bad, but be aware of shipping costs. Anywho, gushing over!
