This past Sunday we were invited to attend a going away party for one of my cousins. He has decided to teach, for the next two years, in Japan. I could not even imagine being so far from home, let alone know that I would not be visiting home in the entirety of my time there. It takes a very dedicated and adventurous individual to attempt such a journey. It was so nice to be there to support him and see him before he departed, and to be able to wish him good luck. Also, my Aunt and Uncle love cooking and their food is usually divine. Their spread included: crab and mushroom quiche, zucchini quiche, home made scones and fruit. It was a send-off with style. On Monday, the babe and I attended to last Beach Babytime at the library. It was both sad and wonderful, because we would not be back to that particular class and it meant the babe was done with baby programs at the library. We both had a fantastic time. The babe wandered around making friends with all the other babies, mostly just sitting back and watching them and sharing toys with them. She made sure the coordinator read the giant Goodnight Moon book and loved the pop-up book and peek-a-boo toy. She also went about trying to pull a box of jingle bells off the table, so we moved it down for her and she went a bit crazy pulling every single one out of the box. We also learned how to use objects we wouldn't necessarily think of to help baby learn and play (for example: a hula hoop to learn to crawl, or couch cushions to teach baby about levels). We are both going to miss the class, and this point in time in our lives when mommy and baby were home together and able to go to baby classes. Tuesday we were hoping to go to the next Baby Signing class; unfortunately, it was cancelled. The next class is scheduled during the day, when I am back at work. So, the babe will miss out on going to the introductory class, and I am not sure if classes will be offered at night. I hope so, as I think she would gain a lot from the experience...and she is slowly picking up on sign, she does know how to do cat. So, Tuesday and Wednesday were spent just me and the babe hanging out, chasing each other around and enjoying our time together before the inevitable return to work. Wednesday night my husband took over baby duties, so that I could go to a BBQ with the girls from work. It was a wonderful time, nice practice for being away from the babe. We had lots of fun, were quite loud and rambunctious and the food was delicious. Curry chicken sliders with curry mayo, tuna salad, potato salad, fruit, and veggies. For dessert, cake and apple Mexican cheesecake. Yum! Thursday we planned, in advance, to visit our little one's soon-to-be home daycare. We finally arrived, after a very long and busy bus ride. The visit eased all of the anxieties I had been feeling about leaving my babe with a stranger. The woman running the daycare is amazing; she was very calm and collected, visibly loved the kids she was watching, was very open and honest, asked questions about the babe regarding where she is in her development. She did not rush me, or make me feel awkward for being there to meet the other kids our little one would be playing with. The children I met there were happy, talkative, not shy at all, and they loved their environment. They also loved our little one, petting her, hugging her, and kissing her whenever they could. Our baby is going to feel tons of love, even when she is not with us, I could not be happier with the results of the visit and the decision we made to send our baby to home daycare.
